NECLIME working group on fire ecology

Coordination: Dieter Uhl, André Jasper

The NECLIME working group on fire ecology intends to draw attention to the crucial role fire plays for vegetation and climate on different temporal and spatial scales. To understand the multiple feedbacks and interactions between climate, environment, vegetation and wildfires in the past and in the future this group explores evidence of fire in the fossil record. Such evidence includes fossil macro- and micro-charcoal, pyrogenic inertinites in lignites and coals, fire scars on fossil tree trunks, as well as pyrogenic polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs).

Forthcoming meeting

Workshops of the NECLIME working group on fire ecology will be announced here.
